Best places to eat SEAFood in Jamaica!

If you are in Kingston then a must go to place for the best SEAFOOD is Port Royal where there is a choice of two versions of the famous Gloria's experience as well as Oyster's available on the street-side along with small vendors selling fried fish with bammy etc on weekends.

Hellshire beach is always a favourite if you are in Portmore St Catherine or if you can manage the drive out of town across to Waterford to the end of the back road and eventually the fresh seafood that awaits is well worth the time it takes to get there and wait for it to be prepared.

Little Ochi is a favourite place to stop in St Elizabeth along with the famous Border at the crossing between the parish of St Elizabeth and Westmoreland where people drive to, just to buy freshly caught fish, to take home to prepare, along with well seasoned cooked pepper shrimp.

Ocho Rios, Fisherman's beach was a personal favourite of mine until recently, at the time of writing this post it was closed down due to the property being refurbished . It has since been reopened with a much improved modern, streamlined setting. With two of the main restaurants Whalers and Lobster Dave relocated to upstairs in the main building. Whilst there are one or two others situated to the other side of the fresh spring water, neatly constructed into a stream that flows right through the property to the ocean. 

The only alternative to Fisherman's beach in Ochi, is White River under the bridge where the fisherman and rafters hang out and there are a number of small restaurants preparing fish to order.

Nearby in Runaway Bay there is Sharkies for Seafood and also more high-end places such as Spring Garden Cafe Seafood and Steakhouse where you can find most fish dishes available either whole or fillet and also the addition of specialities such as Coconut curried and Coconut crusted fish and shrimp as well as lobster available in season. For those with a special occasion to celebrate or the extra budget to indulge there is Christopher's at Hermosa Cove.

In St James my favourite place to eat fresh fried fish and fish tea is a little relatively unknown place in Whitehouse, which other than Pier 1 where there is a special for Seafood on Sundays, or the spots between Littleput and Greenwood; is the best place outside of the town of Montego Bay for Seafood. Here you can find good food and a great ambiance for chilling out at the end of a long week at work. A fine dining experience can be found by reservation only in the evenings at the quaint Houseboat Grill sitting on the edge of the lagoon in Freeport.

In neighbouring Hopewell, Hanover there are several places that serve Seafood and fish dishes, the best of which are the Smoked Marlin that has a Sunday Brunch offer that is great value for money. Nearby at Skyy Beach there is Fresh Fish and Seafood prepared to order, set in a rustic garden with alcove seating available for an intimate setting, for couples celebrating special occasions or larger tables for groups. Right next to this is the local Fisherman's beach where fish is also prepared for a more reasonable price.
